World Read Aloud Day is about taking action to show the world that the right to read and write belongs to all people. World Read Aloud Day motivates children, teens, and adults worldwide to celebrate the power of words, especially those words that are shared from one person to another, and creates a community of readers advocating for every child’s right to a safe education and access to books and technology.

By raising our voices together on this day we show the world’s children that we support their future: that they have the right to read, to write, and to share their words to change the world.

The grade 1 class will be participating in a Read aloud with author Sarah Albee via Skype. We will listen to her read aloud one of her books and talk together about the importance of global literacy, marking this as a special day of reading!

ReplyDeleteWe are your Quadblogging buddies from Sydney. Our class has 24 girls.
We have been looking at your blog and we think it is very interesting. We don't know too much about Canada yet but we do have a Smartboard that is from Canada!
We think that you are luckier than us because we wear uniforms to school and have ipads in class. Our uniform is a blue and white checked dress.
It is very interesting that you are almost a day behind us! It is Wednesday here and we think it is still Tuesday for you.
We didn’t know it was World Read Aloud Day but we did listen to a story called “Neptune’s Nursery” because we are learning about life in the sea.
Our school library is being renovated and we have the building site right outside our window. We have a much smaller library until our new library gets finished but we still love to borrow books to read.
We like the photos of your maths groups, we often do maths groups as well.
Could you tell us what the weather is like in your part of Canada. Is it still snowing? We like the snowflakes on the background of your blog.

DeleteThank you for the comment. We don't have any snow on the ground right now. It is actually warm here today for March. It is going to be 18C today but its supposed to only be around 5C by the weekend. What is the weather like in Sydney? Our March Break is coming up next week. We don't have any school all week. We noticed you have a different school year than us. We go to school from September to the end of June. What months do you go to school? Our library has been newly renovated recently too. We have leather couches and chairs and we have a t.v on the wall. We are watching a live video stream of 3 eagle eggs. We are anxiously waiting to see when they will hatch. We hope to hear from you soon!

ReplyDeleteThe weather in Sydney has been very wet over the summer. In fact there is lots of flooding in areas of Sydney and New South Wales. Usually our summers are lovely and hot but not this time.
We begin our school year in early February and finish in early December. We have 2 week breaks at Easter and in September and 3 weeks in July.
How exciting to be watching eagle eggs hatching. We have been watching beautiful rainbow lorikeets visit a tree in our playground.
